Estuary·River Processes

Business Introduction

The management of surface waters of lakes, rivers, estuaries, and coasts requires consideration of hydrologic characteristics such as flow, physical properties, and topography, as well as various environmental factors such as water quality and aquatic ecology. To optimize surface water management and address unforeseen challenges, it is necessary to understand how these water areas and sea areas function. Through numerical modeling and field observations, GeoSystem Research provides technical support for aquatic environment·water resource management agencies and government departments involved in coastal·estuarine environment and waterway management to help them understand the characteristics of the relevant system and develop management and conservation plans. We also provide solutions for specific problems as they arise. We provide solutions for integrated management of aquatic environment by analyzing a series of processes, connected from land to lakes, rivers, estuaries, and coasts

Our Technology

  • Flow (hydrology), water quality, sediment transport, ecosystem modeling
  • Wave deformation modeling, shoreline deformation modeling
  • Integrated modeling of atmosphere, watersheds, rivers, and estuaries
  • Real-time operation of integrated models / Model improvement and development
  • Observation and analysis of hydrology, physical properties, and water quality
  • Image analysis using satellite and hyperspectral sensors, distribution of green algae, red algae, and zooplankton
  • Landform change observation

Applications

  • Analysis of material transport and change characterization from land to estuaries
  • Analysis of specific issues such as water and sediment pollution, green and red tides
  • Guidelines for the development and utilization of rivers and estuaries
  • Defining standards for legal compliance and related policy frameworks
  • Assessment of potential human activity impacts such as development, dredging, etc.
