Sea Area Utilization Consulting and Marine Environmental Impact Assessment

Business Introduction

To protect the marine environment and fisheries ecosystems from irresponsible development, to efficiently use marine resources and space, and to minimize social conflicts with shareholders, the importance of pre- and post-management policy measures is being emphasized. Currently, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries manages the Sea Area Utilization Consultation and Marine Environmental Impact Assessment system under the Marine Environment Management Act as one of the environmental protection policies for activities or projects occurring in the marine space
Geosystem Research can scientifically predict the impacts of marine development through research and numerical modeling results of marine physics, topography, geology, water quality, and sediment, and proposes ways to minimize the impact on the marine environment with appropriate mitigation measures

Our Technology

  • Authorized sea area utilization impact assessment agent
  • Certificate of marine environment measurement and analysis capability for nutrients and trace metals (19 items) in water and heavy metals (13 items) in sediments (Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, No. 164-1)
  • Precise analysis of marine water quality and sediments
  • Hydrodynamic numerical modeling
  • Wave numerical modeling
  • Sediment transport numerical modeling
  • Thermal effluent dispersion numerical modeling
  • Shoreline deformation numerical modeling
  • Suspended sediment dispersion numerical modeling

Applications

  • Aggregate and mineral resource extraction projects
  • Impact assessment of docks and thermal effluents from nuclear and thermal power plant constructions
  • Offshore wind farm construction projects
  • Offshore construction projects involving the construction, renovation, or expansion of piers, breakwaters, bridges, and other facilities on shared waters
  • Coastal maintenance projects
